
HELSINGOER, Denmark (AP) -- Annika Sorenstam ended her pro golf career in Europe by finishing third at the Nykredit Masters won by Martina Eberl on Sunday.
The 37-year-old Hall of Famer from Sweden closed with a 2-under 71 in the Ladies European Tour event, finishing five shots behind Eberl in the Ladies European Tour event.
Sorenstam had three birdies and one bogey. She finished with a 54-hole total of 9-under 210.
Winner of 10 majors and 72 LPGA titles, Sorenstam will retire at the end of the season to start a family and pursue business interests. She has won three LPGA titles this season.
Eberl, tied for second with Sorenstam going into the final round at Simon's Golf Club course, overcame a 6-shot deficit to win by one stroke over Melissa Reid of England.
The German shot a 66 with eight birdies and one bogey for a total of 14-under 205.
It was her second European win in 76 tournaments since 2003.
Reid, the Tour's leading rookie, shot 73 for her highest score in the tournament.
