NORMAN, Okla. -- Conrad Ray of Stanford will lead the United States against Europe in the 2008 Palmer Cup presented by Monster, the Golf Coaches Association of America has announced. The Ryder Cup-style showdown between teams of college stars from the United States and Europe will be played June 26-29 at the Glasgow Golf Club's Gailes Links.

In addition, Barry University's Jimmy Stobs will coach the U.S. team in the annual Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship, while Brian White of Lamar University will lead the American squad in the Toyota World Junior Golf Team Championship.

A former Stanford golfer, Ray is currently in his fourth season at the helm of the Cardinal program, which won the NCAA Championship last spring for the first time since 1994. Ray, a member of that 1994 squad, is one of the elite few NCAA head coaches to have won an NCAA title as both an athlete and coach.

Last season, Stanford won seven tournaments and all five of its starters were named PING All-America selections. Additionally, the squad produced a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, three Pac-10 All-Academic honorees, five All-Conference selections, five PING All-Region selections and a GCAA All-Freshman selection, and Ray was named the 2007 Pac-10 Coach of the Year, the Eaton Golf Pride Pacific Region Coach of the Year and the Dave Williams Eaton Golf Pride National Coach of the Year following the 2007 campaign.

Stobs is in his sixth season at the helm of the Buccaneer men's golf program. Last season, he was named Eaton Golf Pride National Coach of the Year after leading the Buccaneers to an unprecedented 121-35-5 tournament record and the 2007 NCAA Division II national title, the first in program history.

White is in his eighth season associated with the Lamar golf program and second as the men's head coach. He guided the Cardinals to their best performance at the Southland Conference Championship, a best-ever fourth place finish at the NCAA Central Regional and a school-best third place finish at NCAA Championship.
