
With his win in at the 2008 Masters Tournament, Trevor Immelman became just the second boys' division winner of the Junior PGA Championship to also win a major championship. David Toms, who won the 1984 Junior PGA Championship, also won the 2001 PGA Championship at The Atlanta Athletic Club in Duluth, Ga.

He finished a stroke ahead of defending champion Kyle Thompson of Easley, South Carolina.
Immmelman also became the second international champion and first from his country in the 21-year history of the Championship. Erika Hayashida of Lima, Peru became the first international champion with her victory in the girls' division of the 1993 Junior PGA Championship.
Furthermore, Immelman qualified for the 26th PGA Grand Slam of Golf, Oct. 13-15, at the Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda.
The Junior PGA Championship has also produced two major championship winners from the girls' division. Crisitie Kerr of Scottsdale, Ariz., won the 1995 Junior PGA Championship and the 2007 U.S. Women's Open. Grace Park of Scottsdale, Ariz., won the 1996 Junior PGA Championship and the 2004 Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Begun in 1976, the Junior PGA Championship has traditionally produced unforgettable golf performances and brings together the best junior golfers from around the country to compete for the Jack Nicklaus Trophy in the boys' division and the Patty Berg Trophy in the girls' division.
The PGA of America announced in December that the 33rd Junior PGA Championship will be contested Aug. 13-16, 2008, at The TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio.
