U.S. and European Ryder Cup Team Standings thru Wachovia Championship

The United States points system will determine the top eight players for the 2008 United States Ryder Cup Team. In addition, Captain Paul Azinger will have four selections on Sept. 2 to complete the United States team. Points are based upon the following:

--Prize money earned in the 2007 major championships (Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship -- one point for every $1,000 earned, all U.S. players making the cut will earn points).

--Prize money earned in 2008 in official events from Jan. 1 through Aug. 11 (one point for every $1,000 earned, excluding the major championships and events played opposite major championships, all U.S. players making the cut will earn points). Prize money earned in the 2008 major championships (Masters, U.S. Open, British Open, PGA Championship (two points for every $1,000 earned, all U.S. players making the cut will earn points).

--Prize money earned in 2008 events played opposite the major championships and opposite World Golf Championship events between Jan. 1 and the PGA Championship, Aug. 11 (one-half point for every $1,000 earned, all U.S. players making the cut will earn points).

The 37th Ryder Cup will be held September 16-21, 2008, at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

European Ryder Cup Qualifications
The leading five players on The Ryder Cup World Points List (1) as of Sunday, Aug. 31, will qualify for the 2008 European Ryder Cup Team. In the event of a tie (equal number of points accumulated), placings will be decided by the player with the higher ranking on the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday, Aug. 25. The leading five players, not otherwise qualified (having selected the five players from The Ryder Cup World Points List below), from The Ryder Cup European Points List (2) as of Sunday, Aug. 31 will qualify for the 2008 European Ryder Cup Team. In the event of a tie (equal number of points accumulated), placings will be decided by the player with the higher ranking on the 2008 European Tour Order of Merit as of Aug. 31, 2008.

The Captain, Nick Faldo, will choose the remaining two players for The 2008 European Ryder Cup Team.

(1) The Ryder Cup World Points List is comprised of World Ranking Points won by a European Tour Member from each tournament in which he participates between Sept. 6, 2007 and Aug. 31, 2008. For the final week of qualifying only, World Ranking Points will be awarded solely for the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles on The European Tour International Schedule. World Ranking Points are allocated to all officially sanctioned tournaments (on any Federated Tour) by the Official World Golf Ranking and are allocated according to the Event Rating of the tournament. (2) The Ryder Cup European Points List is comprised of points (1 point = 1 Euro) earned by a European Tour Member from all officially sanctioned European Tour events on the European Tour Order of Merit between Sept. 6, 2007, and Aug. 31, 2008.
