'Road to PGA Championship,' one-hour special, to air July 27 on CBS

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Reigning PGA Professional National Champion Scott Hebert of Traverse City, Mich., will be one of seven PGA Club Professionals featured in the CBS special "The Road to the PGA Championship," which debuts Sunday, July 27, on CBS, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. EDT. The program will be seen in five separate rebroadcasts, beginning July 30, on Golf Channel.

This one-hour special, marking its third consecutive year, is hosted by CBS Sports announcer Bill Macatee, and will feature the PGA Professional National Championship, the quest for a top-20 finish and a berth in the 90th PGA Championship.

Hebert, the PGA head professional at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in Acme, Mich., who captured the 41st PGA Professional National Championship, June 22, in Greensboro, Ga., details his life just before the Championship following the premature birth of his daughter, and how her good health enabled him to concentrate to pursue his first National Championship.

Other featured PGA Club Professionals include 2007 National Champion Chip Sullivan of Troutville, Va., who went on to success in the 2007 PGA Cup and become the first reigning PGA Professional National Champion to compete (finishing tied for 18th) in the 2008 Japan PGA Championship.

The Road to the PGA Championship also features Jimmy Wright, who in 1969 became the first PGA Club Professional to compete in four major championships in the same season; Brad Martin of Portland, Ore., who used a hole-in-one in the second round of the National Championship to vault to a PGA Championship berth; Jim Estes of Olney, Md., who has received national acclaim for his instructional work with America's veterans of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan; Eric Dugas of Brewster, Mass.; and Don Yrene of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Golfweek columnist Rex Hoggard also is one of the featured guests.
