PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., was ranked No. 30 among the Top 50 Public Golf Courses in the United States, in Golf World Magazine's inaugural "2009 Reader's Choice Awards." In addition, both the Wanamaker and Ryder Courses at the PGA Golf Club recently received 4.5 star ratings from Golf Digest, while the entire facility was named to GOLF Magazine's "Best Courses Near You" Florida rankings.
The Golf World Top 50 award was based on 21,000 individual golf course evaluations made by its readers across 13 separate performance criteria, including course conditions, quality of courses, golf practice facilities and reputation/prestige. The magazine debuted its first ranking of the best public, private and resort facilities in the country and said that it used "the most knowledgeable group of people" they could find to serve as its judges -- its readership.
Golf Digest presented the two Tom Fazio-designed courses at PGA Golf Club with 4.5 stars each on its highly regarded 5-star rating scale. In addition, GOLF Magazine recently ranked PGA Golf Club No. 19 among the "Best Courses Near You" in the state of Florida.
"These three distinguished recognitions that the PGA Golf Club has just received from some of the most highly regarded publications in the golf industry is a great testament to the hard work and determination we strive to present each and every day as one of the world's top golf facilities," said Bob Baldassari, PGA general manager, PGA Village, which includes PGA Golf Club, the 35-acre PGA Learning Center golf practice and instruction park and the PGA Historical Center golf museum. "It is truly an honor to receive these awards, especially from the editors, course raters and readers of golf magazines that love and understand the game so passionately."
