VIRGINIA WATER, England (PA) -- Padraig Harrington has fallen out of the top 10 in the world ranking -- 10 months after his back-to-back wins in the British Open and PGA Championship put him in third and poised to challenge Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
Harrington's early exit from the Memorial last week made it three missed cuts in his last four starts, and he has not had a top-10 finish since January.
Woods, meanwhile, has widened his lead at the top again with his brilliant one-stroke victory at Muirfield Village. The second win of his comeback from injury came with an outrageous chip-in for eagle on the long 11th and then two closing birdies.
LOWRY SCOOPS AWARD: He may have been a member of the European Tour for less than a month, but Ireland's Shane Lowry has already won a Golfer of the Month award.
The 22-year-old amateur winner of the Irish Open, now a professional, has been named as the winner of the May prize on the circuit ahead of a list of candidates that included Swede Henrik Stenson for his Players Championship victory in Florida and Paul Casey for his third win of the year at the BMW PGA Championship.
Lowry became only the third amateur ever to capture a European Tour title and in the second round at County Louth fired a 62 which matched the lowest round by an amateur in the circuit's history.
PITCH WINS PRIZE: Angel Cabrera's pitch on the first hole of his Masters playoff has won him the European Tour Shot of the Month award for April.
Cabrera needed to get up and down after going in the trees with his drive, and wedged to six feet, made the putt and then won his second major title on the next hole.
Second place went to Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey for his approach to the long 15th as he captured his first European Tour title in Portugal, and third was awarded to Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee for his 8-iron to four feet in the Ballantine's Championship playoff in Korea.
