
CASARES, Spain (PA) -- There are now more Europeans than Americans in the top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking after England's Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher both won prominent tournaments on Sunday.
Poulter captured the Barclays Singapore Open to move up to 15th in the rankings, while Fisher won the Volvo World Match Play Championship to move up to 17th. Both players are the highest they have ever been in the rankings.
A total of nine Europeans now populate the top 20: No. 4 Paul Casey of England, No. 5 Lee Westwood of England, No. 6 Padraig Harrington of Ireland, No. 7 Henrik Stenson of Sweden, No. 9 Sergio Garcia of Spain, No. 11 Martin Kaymer of Germany, No. 15 Poulter, No. 17 Fisher and No. 18 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland.
The current top 20 includes eight Americans: No. 1 Tiger Woods, No. 2 Phil Mickelson, No. 3 Steve Stricker, No. 8 Kenny Perry, No. 10 Jim Furyk, No. 12 Stewart Cink, No. 13 Sean O'Hair and No. 16 Lucas Glover.
The three other players currently on the top 20 are No. 14 Geoff Ogilvy of Australia, No. 19 Camoli Villegas of Colombia and No. 20 Vijay Singh of Fiji.
