MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- New Zealand teenager Danny Lee hopes to claim at least another tournament title as an amateur when he tees off Thursday in the Moonah Classic, which is co-sanctioned by the Nationwide Tour and the Australasian PGA Tour.

The Korean-born Lee, 18, became the youngest winner of a European Tour or Australasian Tour event last weekend when he claimed the co-sanctioned Johnnie Walker Classic by one stroke to move from No. 562 to No. 159 in the world rankings.

Lee plans to turn pro after the Masters -- he gets to play at Augusta as the reigning U.S. Amateur champion.

As well as an improved ranking, Lee will take a new swing to the Moonah Links course at the coastal town of Fingal south of Melbourne, after working on a few ideas with the Butch Harmon-trained Won Joon Lee during the Johnnie Walker.

Lee isn't expecting another victory this weekend because he doesn't like links courses.

"It's pretty hard out there, I'm a bit disappointed about that," Lee said. "It's going to be a hard week for me."

Defending champion Ewan Porter of Australia, a regular on the Nationwide Tour, warned the tough 7,421-yard Moonah layout could be rendered virtually unplayable by the high winds and hot weather forecast for later in the week.

Porter said it was imperative the greens were watered and the speed held at a reasonable level for the event.

"The greens are actually a lot firmer than they were at this time last year and I assume the greenskeepers and the tour are thinking that we're not going to get a significant amount of wind the next four days," Porter said. "If the wind was anything like it was last year it will almost become unplayable, the way the greens are."

Lee and Porter will line up in a field that includes Australians Craig Parry, Peter Senior and Andre Stolz.
