Theme: Your Future, Your PGA OVERVIEW: The PGA Annual Meeting, the largest governance event for The PGA of America, will be held this year for the first time in one of America’s great cities, Boston. With the theme of “Your Future, Your PGA,” this 94th PGA Annual Meeting will focus on the changing trends in our society and examine ways that PGA Professionals can be best prepared to grow the golf industry. This is also an election year, with six PGA members running for the office of PGA Secretary. Current PGA Vice President Allen Wronowski is expected to be elected the 37th PGA President by acclimation, while current PGA Secretary Ted Bishop is expected to become PGA Vice President by acclimation. A new PGA Secretary will be chosen during the 94th Annual Meeting from among six candidates who have been nominated and seconded by PGA Sections. The candidates are as follows: --Ray Cutright, District 13, PGA Director of Golf, Idle Hour Club, Macon, Ga. --Bob Doyle, District 9, Principal and Chief Operating Officer of Atira Golf, Edwards, Colo. --Paul Levy, District 11, President of Club Operations and Development for Sunrise Company, and the CEO at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif. --Rod Loesch, District 2, PGA Head Professional, The Connecticut Golf Club, Eason, Conn. --Derek Sprague, District 1, PGA General Manager/Head Professional, Malone Golf Club in Malone, N.Y. --Mike Zinni, District 8, PGA Head Professional, Mankato Golf Club, Mankato, Minn. At the PGA Annual Meeting, each candidate will discuss his views and plans prior to the General Session on Nov. 8. Each candidate will then be nominated at the General Session. The winning candidate will be chosen by a majority vote cast by section delegates (two from each Section), PGA board members including current officers and the honorary president, and any PGA past presidents in attendance. BOARD OF DIRECTORS: The PGA of America Board of Directors is comprised of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Honorary President and 17 directors who establish Association policy. The directors include representatives from each of the PGA’s 14 districts, two independent directors and a member of the PGA Tour. The six new incoming district directors are: • District 1 Director: Suzy Whaley, PGA Golf Clinician, TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, Conn. Connecticut, New England, Northeastern New York • District 2 Director: Leo DeGisi, Head PGA Professional/General Manager, Medford Village Country Club, Medford, N.J. New Jersey, Philadelphia, Metropolitan • District 5 Director: Gil Gusweiler, PGA Director of Golf, Kenwood Country Club, Cincinnati, Ohio. Michigan, Northern Ohio, Southern Ohio • District 10 Director: Mike Ahrnsbrak, Head PGA Professional/General Manager, PGA Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Club, Winchester, Va. Carolinas, Kentucky and Middle Atlantic • District 13 Director: Steve Cox, PGA Director of Golf, Pelican Sound Golf & River Club, Estero, Fla. Georgia, North Florida, South Florida • District 14 Director, Michael Haywood, PGA Director of Golf, Tucson Country Club, Tucson, Ariz. Pacific Northwest, Southwest • Independent Director, John Jacob, Aventura, Fla. A new Independent Director is expected to be announced at the 94th PGA Annual Meeting. PGA ANNUAL MEETING RESOLUTIONS: Delegates to the 94th Annual Meeting will vote on three of resolutions. RESOLUTION 1: Recovery from Class F RESOLUTION 2: Membership Requirements For PGA Golf Management University Students.
