This week just past was one of the most unique of the entire golf season. The reason: Two big-time pro golf tours played an event at the same time in the same city.
The setting was exotic Agadir, Morocco. The European Tour staged its Hassan II Trophy at Golf du Palais Royal, while the Ladies European Tour put on its Lalla Meryem Cup at nearby Golf de'l Ocean. It happened because both were sponsored by Morocco's Hassan II Golf Trophy Association.
I had some real work to do tonight, but I couldn't quit looking at all the Internet photos of people Dufnering. After that hilarious photo of Jason Dufner slumping on the floor in a grade-school classroom went viral on Thursday, people from Luke Donald to Rory McIlroy to Bubba Watson to Rickie Fowler to everyday golfers far and wide began posting their own photos of themselves, celebrities and even animals engaging in the Internet's latest craze.
You could see this one coming a long par 5 away. Jason Dufner's moment of classroom infamy began with this photo and post by Deadspin. As golf fans (and golfers) began to enjoy "Dufner being Dufner", some of his fellow Tour players were obviously enjoying the image as well. So much so, a new meme was born and is spreading fast on Twitter among other places.
Jason Dufner, the 2012 Byron Nelson Champion, was back in Dallas today promoting the championship and delivering a keynote address at lunch. Prior to his talk, he was kind enough to visit with students at the Salesmanship Youth and Family Center. Unfortanately (or hilariously), this viral photo - first shared by sports site Deadspin - was captured during his visit.
