Larry Gilbert, 39, of Lexington, Ky., makes PGA Club Professional Championship history by becoming the first winner to lead from start to finish. On the second sudden-death playoff hole at PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Gilbert captures the Championship over Don Padgett II of Akron, Ohio. Gilbert successfully defends his PGA CPC title in 1982, and wins for the third time in 1991.
