Small comes up big to win the 38th PGA CPC

Think the players on the University of Illinois golf team will listen to their coach next year? They will if they're smart, because their coach, Mike Small, charged from behind on Sunday to win the 38th PGA Club Professional Championship. Small conquered the mighty Ocean Course at Kiawah Island with a 3-under 69 to finish three shots ahead of runner-up Travis Long.

1983
Larry Webb, of Coolidge, Ariz., shakes off losing $300 in a pre-Championship hotel break-in and shoots a 5-under-par 283 for a four-stroke victory over runner-up Bob Ford in The 16th PGA CPC. Webb had arrived at La Quinta (Calif.) Hotel Golf Club as an alternate, but leaves with a check for $20,000 -- more than compensating for his earlier loss.
