Here's the most important shot Paul Broadhurst hit today

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- England's Paul Broadhurst had a round for the ages Sunday in the final round of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

Beginning the day two back of the 54-hole leaders, Broadhurst fired an 8-under 63 at Harbor Shores -- the best final-round score by a champion in tournament history -- to claim his second major in senior golf.

While the eight birdies on Broadhurst's scorecard were fantastic, it was really an unlikely par that probably one him the tournament.

Here's what happened...

Broadhurst went to the par-4 14th hole -- playing as the most difficult hole in the final round -- with a one-stroke lead over Tim Petrovic at 17 under. 

Broadhurst was on the left edge of the green in two shots, but because of the severity of the undulating green, he elected to hit a chip shot rather than putt.

For a moment, it looked as though Broadhurst outsmarted himself. The chip scooted 30 feet past the hole, leaving him with an extraordinarily difficult putt for par.

Poised as can be, Broadhurst deftly dropped the putt in for a par that should have been a bogey at best. It allowed him to maintain his one-stroke lead over Petrovic and gave him momentum down the stretch to birdie the final two holes and ultimately win by four strokes.
