Thomas Gillis
Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club ; Golf Course ; 9 Holes ; plays 18 with back 9 tees in different locations. The course is not on Long Island Sound directly but less than 1/4 -1/2 mile from the Sound. The wind can play a factor at times. The ocean breeze also keeps the temp down when playing a round or working on the range. The course itself is challenging, as you must stay strait off the tee. You get rewarded for a fairway hit and punished for spraying into a hazard or under a tree. Its a fun course to play. I play the course a few times a week and never get bored as the course is kept in impeccable condition and the weather and hole placements always make the course play a little different. I have never taken a guest to the course that did not have a good time and an exciting round of golf. The course at Pine orchard is a private course and is always in excellent condition. It gets 4 stars from me, but I have been playing since I learned the game. Still I think I am giving a fair assessment of the course. If you know a member, get invited to play a round at Pine Orchard, you will enjoy the course, the weather and the scenic views, most of all the challenging play. You can score from the fairway, as I noted, but trouble awaits if you have a hard time staying in the fairways.
