Let me start out by saying I like the course. I have played there 5 or 6 times. Now, having said that, I need to mention a few things. My first impression was that Coore & Crenshaw set out to build a "big" course a la Augusta. By that I mean it is set deep in the Pines, no houses around, dramatic and sweeping vistas and somewhat unusual fairways leading to some of the fastest greens around. I could just imagine the announcer describing Rory McIlroy teeing off on the back tee, surrounded by majestic, long-leaf pines to a dramatic, dog-leg, downward sloping fairway to an unseen green. Really. The truth is there are many holes that fit this bill. There are no "tee-boxes", just teeing "areas"; originally the holes didn't have a "par"; there is no "rough' - just areas that slide into the trees. There is even one very long (over 600 yards) dramatic, dog-leg left, downward sloping monster of a hole. But reachable. When you get to the green, you find it slopes away from front to back...
The Clubhouse is probably 850 sq ft with a front desk and a small but cozy sitting area for about 4 golfers. Great - I loved it.
Go try it. I am not sure it is a "big" as Coore & Crenshaw wanted but it is a tremendous course that will age well.
