Van Cortlandt is the oldest public golf course in the country, but you'd never know it because the course is in excellent condition. I don't think I've played on a public county course that's as well kept as this was, which is surprising considering the course is smack dab in the middle of NYC. It's a great course for an average player like myself since it's fairly forgiving, but it's also challenging enough with a fair number of hazards spread throughout.
My buddies and I said that we'd definitely be going back again considering the great course condition and the very reasonable price.
