Garrison is really a wonderful course. It represents all of what a Northeastern U.S. golf course is all about.
Good length for the mid and lower handicap players, elevation changes, mature trees, stone walls, slight to extreme dog legs, clever placement of bunkers, and the million dollar views. Beautiful views of the Hudson Higlands region, the Hudson River and West Point Miltary Acadamy.
The grounds are well maintained and most of the greens are large (for this area, at least) and tight. True rolls and breaks.
The prices are reasonable, carts run great, staff is friendly and the food is much, much better than you will find at most public or private courses.
If you find yourself in NYC, Westchester, Putnam, Orange or Dutchess Counties in NY, do yourself a favor and give Garrison a try. It is within an hour and a half or closer from all of the above areas.
The only thing I should mention is that it is not for beginners. Other than that, enjoy!
