Since the inception of PGA.com's, 'A Quick Nine,' feature, we've tried to make it a point to highlight beautiful areas of the country, or fantastic courses that you might not otherwise know about. That will continue.

In fact, it continues right now. This week, we asked our servicemen and servicewomen golfers -- and anyone else who could help: What is the best golf course on a Military Base?

A QUICK NINE

Looking for a great place to play golf? Check out some of our "best of" features from the past.

Here are the top answers we received.

1. Andrews Air Force Base. Located in Maryland, AAFB is home to three courses -- the East, the West and the South. AAFB is the venue of choice for President Obama.

Facebook fan quote:

"Andrews Air Force Base. Three awesome courses!!" -- O.v. Garner II

2. North Kingstown Golf Course. Located beside the former Naval Air Station Quonset Point right on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, NKGC provides some breathtaking views of the ocean, as well as military planes sitting in hangars at the adjacent base.

Facebook fan quote:

"Quonset Point Officers Course (AKA North Kingstown Golf Course) in Rhode Island built by the 1st Seebee Div in 1942." -- Fred Melidy

3. Eisenhower at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. From its website: Eisenhower Golf Club is situated adjacent to the USAF Academy Chapel and cadet dormitories. Constructed in large part from a donation made by the AFAF in the amount of $250,000 in 1958, Eisenhower Golf Club's Blue Course is rated among the highest of all courses in the Department of Defense. The winding fairways, well groomed greens, and the natural wonder of roaming wildlife make the Blue and Silver Courses two of the most scenic 36 Holes in Colorado. Eligible users of the Eisenhower Golf Club include: Active Duty, Retired military, Reservists, National Guard, NAF, DoD Government employees, USAFA cadets/Prep School students, USAFA Contractors with valid I.D. cards and their guests.

Facebook quotes:

"Eisenhower at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs... two epic courses." -- Adam Vasilakis

"Eisenhower @ the Air Force Academy." -- Kevin Ross

"Eisenhower Golf Course @ the United States Air Force Academy." -- Mike Green

4. Gordon Lakes Golf Club at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga. This 27-hole gem isn't the most well-known course in Augusta, but like many in that area of the country, that doesn't mean it's not great.

Facebook fan quotes:

"Gordon Lakes at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga... By a landslide!" -- Jason Newsome

"Gordon Lakes at Ft. Gordon, Ga. Not only one of the best military courses, one of the better public courses in the Augusta area... and THAT'S saying something." -- Joshua Johnson

5. The Ryder Golf Course at Fort Bragg, N.C. Target golf is what the Ryder Golf Course is all about with its tree-lined, narrow fairways and small greens.

Facebook fan quote:

"Ryder Golf Course at Fort Bragg. That course killed me but it's great." -- Daniel DeVane

6. Sea 'N Air Golf Club in San Diego, Calif. This is the only golf course in San Diego, besides Torrey Pines, that sits on the Pacific Ocean. Unlike Torrey Pines, a few of the holes at Sea 'N Air Golf Club actually play at Sea Level.

Facebook fan quote:

"My favorite is the Sea 'N Air Golf Club in Coronado Air Station, San Diego CA... facing the Pacific Ocean with F-18 Hornets flying by while swinging from hole Nos. 1-18... how awesome is that?" -- Carolyn Nautical Princess Mitchell

7. Kaneohe Bay Klipper Course in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. At 6,559 yards from the back tees, it's not the longest course you'll ever play, but it might be one of the most scenic.

Facebook fan quotes:

"Kaneohe Bay Klipper Course." -- Justin Smith

"Kaneohe Bay Klipper or NAS North Island. The views of the Pacific from the Klipper are second to none and the views of the Coronado Bridge and the bay are amazing." -- Joshua Robin

"Klipper golf course in Oahu. The Pacific is OB! Awesome views of clear blue ocean." -- Shantel Montgomery

8. Legends at Parris Island, S.C. Legends has been rated as one of the top-10 military courses in the world.

Facebook fan quote:

"Legends at Parris Island Marine Recruit Depot in Beaufort County, South Carolina." -- Frieda C. Carlson Harvey

9. Clear Creek Golf Course, Fort Hood, Texas. The best part about this course? You can play 18 holes for less than $20. What's better than that?

Facebook fan quote:

"Clear Creek Golf Course, Fort Hood, Texas. Seriously best course I've played on a base (especially since there is not enough water in Texas to make the grass green)." -- Timothy Gaestel

The South Bay Palms course at MacDill AFB is as good as almost any Florida resort course I've played, and I've played quite a few. Challenging and interesting, seveal forced carries, lots of water, with numerous bay views and one hole running along Tampa Bay for its entire length. Can't believe it was left off.

One of the best military courses ever played. Well maintained. J. Vasilakis www.adamvasilakis.com

Bayonet if not turned over to Seaside, CA with FT Ord closure would definitely be on the best Militray Course list if not topping it. Just played it recently on a trip to Cali and they have definitely given it more eye appeal by clearing out a lot of the lower branches on what used to be very thick, bushy, pine trees and made the fairways beautiful with the crosscut fairways. Still plays quite tough though even with the clearing of the underbrush.

Sadly, Ft. Ord closed so Bayonet wasn't eligible for this list. It has to be in the top 2-3, and maybe the best among all military courses. When the Monterey locals want a real challenge, they play Bayonet!

Played Fort Gordon a number of times a great course and can be very challenging.
