A Quick Nine: Places to play around New Orleans for Super Bowl week

The Super Bowl is headed back to New Orleans and the Superdome on February 3, where head-coaching brothers Jim and John Harbaugh will be on opposite sidelines as the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens square off.

Who cares? I know, right (Just kidding. A bitter New England Patriots fan here, who's still dumbfounded that his team didn't show up for the second half of the AFC Championship game.)?

It could be argued that New Orleans is the best party town in the U.S., and perhaps among the best in the world. We don't need to tell you to check out the French Quarter or Bourbon Street -- you already know about those.

Instead, we want to help you find something to do in the morning and during the day... you know, like some golf.

With that, we reached out to our friends in PGA.com Facebook Nation and asked: where are the best places to tee it up within an hour or so of the Superdome?

Here's a look at some of the best answers we received and, yes, we did need to go slightly further away because of some fantastic golf in Mississippi.

Editor's Note: If you've played any of the courses below, please click its name to go to its PGA.com course page and leave a review for others to see.

9. The Grand Bear in Saucier, Miss. Located a little more than an hour outside of New Orleans, we've been assured that the Grand Bear is worth the drive. Here's the course description from its website: "A wide array of hole layouts makes Grand Bear challenging, yet enjoyable for all. You'll enjoy the game of golf like never before, as Grand Bear takes you through all its majestic beauty, exquisitely sculpted amid protected wetlands in a pristine Mississippi forest."

8. Fallen Oak Golf Club in Saucier, Miss. This immaculate Tom Fazio-designed championship course has been named among the 50 best in the U.S. by Golf Digest. Probably the only reason it's No. 8 on this list is because we're trying to get you a little closer to the Superdome for your Super Bowl week golf.
