Right now, one of the 'hot topics' in the golf world is pace of play - as it should be.
Last week, I competed in one of my favorite events - the PGA Professional National Championship. This past weekend, Inbee Park not only won the Women's U.S. Open but managed to make it her third straight major championship this year.
To get a fuller swing while increasing your balance, try taking some slow practice swings with your feet together. Many players have a tendency to sway back and forth in their swing and with your feet together you obviously can’t do that.
When I was in college I realized how rewarding it was to help someone with their golf swing and then see their face light up after hitting a good shot. I actually enjoyed it more than hitting a good shot myself. That is when I decided to pursue a career in teaching the game of golf.
Good tempo in the golf swing is extremely important. The first few feet of your take-away should be the slowest part of your swing.
The Fed Ex Cup's completion at East Lake this year definitely had the feel of a "Super Bowl". This week's lesson learned was evident in the final round and was easy to see; Nerves and controlling them.
Stop me if you've heard this one before: Rory McIlroy convincingly beats an elite field to win on the PGA Tour. Actually, you've probably heard it three of the last four weeks. Hey, this kid is really good.
Without question, the headline story of the day or week goes to 15 year old Lydia Ko, an amateur who won the CN Canadian Women's Open. Yes, you read that right. She's 15 years old.
Take the best players in the world, wind and rain (and a couple of delays) and the pressure of a major championship and you are going to have one incredible golf tournament. And that's exactly what we had at the 94th PGA Championship here at the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island.
This week's HP Byron Nelson Championship at TPC Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, certainly showed us what a roller coaster ride golf can be at times. As in life, golf has its highs and lows and that was clearly on display in the Lone Star State.
It was a great honor to represent The PGA of America and my fellow club professionals this week as the Low Club Professional at the Senior PGA Championship. It was a great week and a tremendous event.
It was with a great sense of joy that I watched this past week's Players Championship. Why? Because it's obvious, golf is in great hands - with a strong crop of stars ready to carry the torch for the next generation.
A Lesson Learned: "Consistency: The Road to a Better Game" Problem Area: Consistency
Hunter Mahan stood on the 18th tee, the 72nd hole of the 2012 Shell Houston Open, and probably knew he was one good drive from winning his 5th PGA Tour event. The final pairing, the t.v.
Just when you thought that the PGA Tour couldn't get more exciting...eight players who were tied for the lead at some point on Sunday, a four-man playoff, a possible return to world No. 1 by Luke Donald at stake. Wow!
Stop me if you've heard this one before. "Tiger Woods wins at Bay Hill at the Arnold Palmer Invitational." And yes, you've probably heard it before, this is now the 7th time Woods has won the event.
The World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship has crowned its new champion, Justin Rose. Rose started the day three shots back from the third-round leader Bubba Watson, who was -17 to start the day on Sunday. Bubba Watson seemed as if he could just overpower the TPC Blue Monster.
To be a Match Play Champion, you need to think like a Gladiator. No…seriously.
There were two big stories this past week. The first was Rory McIlroy putting a bag full of new equipment into play. And the second was the fact that he missed the cut in Abu Dhabi - by quite a margin.
If you watched the Hyundai Tournament of Champions on Maui, you witnessed the best golfers in the world challenged by the forces of Mother Nature. If it wasn’t the pouring rain wreaking havoc on their psyches, it was the hurricane like winds blowing their golf balls off the greens.
