Round 2
| Hole | Yards | Par | Hole Highlights |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 428 | 4 | With the wind at their backs, all four players hit driver but none of them found the fairway. Tiger hit a huge drive, but from the left rough only 50 yards out, was only able to get it on the green, some 30 feet right of the pin. Ogilvy played a great shot to five feet. After Furyk left his 45-foot putt way short, Tiger did the same with his. Weir missed his 20-foot birdie try to the left. Furyk made his 6 foot par, then Tiger made his -- before Ogilvy missed his birdie try. Weir then tapped in for his par. |
| 2 | 524 | 5 | Missing that short birdie putt on the first hole seemd to have had an effect on Ogilvy. While Tiger and Weir each birdied this par 5 by reaching the green in two and two-putting from long range, Ogilvy drove into the fairway bunker on the right, made a nice play out into the fairway, then missed the green badly to the right from 170 yards out. He pitched 9 feet past the hole then missed his par putt. Furyk made par after a poor chip from in front of the green rolled off the back. |
| 3 | 209 | 3 | Here comes Tiger! The world no. 1 played a masterful knockdown 4-iron that cut into the wind and stuck 3 feet from the hole for an easy second straight birdie. Weir gave back the shot he picked up on no. 2 when he found the front right bunker then blasted 30 feet past -- and two-putted. Furyk and Ogilvy each made two-putt pars. |
| 4 | 380 | 4 | After none of the four found the fairway, Weir played a great shot from 120 yards out to 5 feet. Not to be outdone, Tiger, from the rough on the right, played a shot from 100 yards to 6 feet. However, he missed a chance for a third straight birdie when his ball slid by the left edge. Weir also missed his birdie, powering his putt through the break. Furyk and Ogilvy made routine pars. |
| 5 | 355 | 4 | Through five holes, no player has found the fairway off the tee. Here on no. 5, Weir missed to the left, the other three to the right, with Ogilvy in the fairway bunker. Furyk went to the back fringe with his approach, Weir played a great punch shot to the middle of the green, Tiger went way long over the green into a swale, while Ogilvy played a good shot to the center of the green. Tiger's chip didn't check and rolled 5 feet past but he made the putt for par. Ogilvy played his worst putt of the tournament, leaving himself a 6 footer for par -- which he missed to fall to 2-over. Furyk and Weir each made par. |
| 6 | 573 | 5 | Even with the wind at their backs, no one hit a tremendous drive. However, Furyk ended the fairway drought by finding the short grass -- but his was also the shortest drive. Still, all four were either on or near the green in two. With the pin way in the back with a huge mound in front, all four left their approaches well below the hole. Only Tiger and Furyk managed to get down in two for birdie. |
| 7 | 152 | 3 | Tiger hit a towering tee shot 12 feet right of the hole to the fringe. Furyk went long into the back bunker and Ogilvy went long about 25 feet past and left of the hole, but still on the green. Weir then hit his worst shot yet, a semi-fat mid-iron that splashed into the pond. Furyk played a great bunker shot to 3 feet, Tiger then just missed his birdie putt. Ogilvy putted to four feet, but lipped out his par putt, his ball going all the way around the hole and spinning out. Weir chipped to 3 feet then two-putted for a crippling triple bogey. |
| 8 | 374 | 4 | It's not often that Tiger is the shortest off the tee, but he was here, after hitting a 3 wood when the others hit driver. No matter, as he played a beautiful mid-iron that drove through the wind and landed 15 feet below the hole. He left his birdie putt surprisingly short and tapped in for par. Weir rebounded nicely with a 12-foot birdie putt, while Furyk and Ogilvy made two-putt pars. |
| 9 | 405 | 4 | Once again, Tiger hit a 3-wood and was shortest off the tee, but this time the wind caught his second shot and took it left into a deep swale. But he's not the best in the world for nothing -- with a 60 degree wedge he played a high chip that checked 3 feet from the hole and rolled in for an unlikely birdie to tie Furyk for the lead at 6-under. Ogilvy kept the crowd buzzing by draining a 20-footer for birdie. Furyk nearly did the same but his 15-foot birdie try lipped out. Weir made a two-putt par. |
| 10 | 429 | 4 | Ogilvy hit his best shot of the day, maybe the tournament, here. After pulling his drive 40 yards left of the fairway, he threaded a long iron through some trees to the center of the green. After Weir played a terrific long bunker shot to 2 feet, Tiger nearly holed his long chip. Furyk then played an fine flop shot from short left of the green to 6 feet. But he missed the putt, making his first bogey of the tournament, and putting Tiger in the lead by himself. |
| 11 | 193 | 3 | None of the players found the green with their tee shots, Ogilvy missed right and was nearly in the water, Furyk was short right, Tiger long right in the rough under a tree, and Weir just long in the fringe. Ogilvy played a high flop to 8 inches, while Tiger, with a wad a mud on his ball, came up 6 feet short. He calmly canned the putt just befor Furyk and Ogilvy saved their pars. |
| 12 | 435 | 4 | Furyk caught a great break when his tee shot sailed far to the left but stayed in bounds by about 15 feet. With a blowing rain falling, he played an amazing long iron that just cleared the bunker and stopped 25 feet from the hole. Ogilvy pulled his approach and then caught a bad break when his shot plugged in the left bunker. His blast then bounded 30 feet past the hole. From there he two-putted for bogey. Tiger and Weir made two-putt pars. |
| 13 | 384 | 4 | Tiger went for the green, and hit his 3 wood into the bunker on the left. Ogilvy hit a great driver to the back of the green. Furyk layed-up with a long iron, and Weir's drive found the water. Tiger blasted out to 25 feet, Furyk hit a nice approach to about 15 feet. Ogilvy two-putted for his birdie. Tiger just missed and tapped in for par. Furyk's putt lipped out again and he settled for par as well. Weir two-putted for his bogey after taking a drop. |
| 14 | 537 | 5 | With the rain stopped and playing dead into the wind, this was a three-shot hole for all four players. Weir, Furyk and Ogilvy all found the fairway, Woods found the right rough. After good second shots from all, each player hit good approach shots, Ogilvy's being the best. From 20 feet, Furyk was short with his birdie try. From 15 feet, so was Weir. Tiger, from 10 feet, missed it left before Ogilvy then missed from 3 feet. All made par. |
| 15 | 427 | 4 | Tiger played a long iron off the tee on this tough driving hole, and it proved to be a wise move. Despite playing first from the fairway, Woods hit a solid approach to 15 feet below the hole. Meanwhile Furyk hit a marvelous approach that hit into the hill behind the hole and rolled back to within 6 feet. But after Tiger rolled in his birdie putt, Furyk missed his to the left to give Tiger a two-shot lead with three to play. Weir and Ogilvy each made routine pars. |
| 16 | 501 | 4 | Furyk's hopes nearly died on a wicked downslope behind a bunker, in deep rough, behind the green. But he played a magical chip that almost went in before veering right of the hole. Tiger, meanwhile, played it safe to the middle of the green pin-high then two-putted for his par. Ogilvy and Weir also made two-putt pars. |
| 17 | 225 | 3 | Furyk nearly put some pressure on Tiger but his 40-foot birdie try just missed to the right. Tiger then missed his 12-foot birdie try but tapped in for his par. Weir and Ogilvy each made routine pars. |
| 18 | 550 | 5 | With a two-shot lead and playing a hole he owns, Tiger did not hold back. He drove into the left rough but muscled a towering 8-iron onto the green, 40 feet right of the hole. Furyk laid up from a nasty lie and played a dandy pitch to 3 feet, but the outcome was already decided. Tiger made it official with a tap-in birdie to wild cheers. |
Round 1
| Hole | Yards | Par | Hole Highlights |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 428 | 4 | All four players hit driver. Ogilvy's shot found the right side, first cut where the fairway meets the rough. Furyk was in the middle, 10 yards further. Ogilvy, from the left side, hit a long iron and fanned it way right of green. Furyk, standing in the middle, says to Tiger, whose ball sailed into the left rough on a sidehill lie, "Hey tiger, who's away?" Tiger groans, "Here we go." Furyk says, "What, I'll only get to say it once." The crowd howled in laughter. Woods rips a fairway wood from a sidehill, downhill lie into the front right bunker. Weir pulled his tee shot into the right fringe, 50 feet away and putted the ball a few feet past the hole. After a tee shot with a 9-iron, Tiger made a 20-foot birdie putt, while the other three players carded pars. |
| 8 | 374 | 4 | Tiger's drive faded into the right fairway bunker. Weir's approach from the left rough sailed over the green and into some bushes. Ogilvy's approach stopped just left of the green in the fringe. Weir's bogey-putt came up short and he made double bogy. Ogilvy tapped in for par. Tiger was short and left after his bunker shot. Tiger played an awesome high flop to two feet. Ogilvy chipped to three feet. Furyk putted two feet past the hole and all four players made par. |
| 10 | 429 | 4 | Is every hole here into a stiff wind? While Ogilvy, Furyk and Weir found the fairway, Tiger missed another, this time left in a bunker. After Furyk and Ogilvy both found the green, Weir lost his to the right in a bunker. Tiger also faded a ball right, but came up short of the trap. Weir played a beauty to one foot, then Tiger pitched four feet past the hole. Furyk, from 45 feet left of the hole, stopped it to two feet. Ogilvy, from 25 feet, left it short. All players made their par. |

Tiger was 30 feet right of the hole, hit his birdie putt too strong and five feet past. All four players made their pars. |
| 13 | 384 | 4 | With the tee up and the wind finally at their backs, all four players tried to drive the green. Ogilvy reached the back part of green, 50 feet above the hole. Furyk had enough club but missed the green back left. Weir played a beauty to about 20 feet right, back of the hole after getting a favorable bounce -- presumably from a sprinkler-head in the rough. Furyk chipped eight feet short, but made his birdie putt. Ogilvy putted to two feet and made birdie. Tiger missed the par chance and tapped in for bogey, cleary not happy. Weir made his two-footer for birdie. |
| 14 | 537 | 5 | Tiger finally found a fairway, and ripped one down the middle 10 yards past the next longest -- Ogilvy. All four players hit a fairway wood with their respective second shots into the wind. Furyk came up 50 yards short and left. Ogilvy was 30 yards short and left. Weir came up 30 yards short and right. Tiger hit his second shot into a nasty lie on the rim of the left, greenside bunker but not in the sand.
