L1 Technologies, parent company of the iGolf brand, has released its new iGolf Mobile version 2.0 for BlackBerry. iGolf Mobile provides golfers with free professionally mapped distances on more than 33,000 golf courses worldwide. Golfers who upgrade to a premium membership can access interactive maps with distance to any point on the hole for detailed shot planning.
The current release is compatible with the BlackBerry Curve 8900, Tour 9630, Bold 9700 and Bold 9560, company officials said. In addition to the new BlackBerry release, iGolf Mobile is also available for iPhone, Palm Pre and Android-enabled phones.
"We are excited to release a powerful, free golf GPS application for BlackBerry owners," said Gary Symington, general manager of the iGolf Division. "iGolf now provides the latest golf GPS technology to any golfer with a BlackBerry, iPhone, Pre or Android-enabled phone."
iGolf Mobile includes precise distances to the front, center and back of every green in their portfolio of courses, as well as to custom points (such as bunkers, water or hazards) on each mapped hole. Golfers can also use the app to measure shot distance, keep score for up to four players and track their handicap and other statistics.
Access to the latest golf news and exclusive opinion articles, as well as independent course, equipment and travel destination reviews also are available within iGolf Mobile. An interactive map of the first hole on every course, showing the distance to any point on the hole, is also included for free as a premium membership preview.
Golfers who upgrade to a Premium iGolf Mobile Membership can access interactive hole maps with multi-level zoom for detailed shot planning on available courses. Premium maps provide distance to any point on the hole, allowing golfers to measure the exact distance to pin locations, hazards, lay-up points and any other target on the course. Premium Membership is available on a monthly ($5) or annual ($50) basis.
