Luiten wins Johor Open, first European Tour title

JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia (AP) -- Dutchman Joost Luiten won the rain-shortened Johor Open on Sunday for his first European Tour title, closing with a 6-under 65 for a one-stroke victory over Sweden's Daniel Chopra.

Luiten finished at 15-under 198 at Horizon Hills in the event also sanctioned by the Asian Tour.

"It's always tough to get your first major victory," Luiten said. "I have been close to doing so on a few occasions and I am relieved I have done it."

Chopra birdied three of the last six holes for a 70.

"I have learnt a lot from this tournament," Chopra said. "Patience is always the key and although I had some fantastic rounds, today was just not right for me. But still finishing second has given me some encouragement."

Ireland's Padraig Harrington, the 2010 winner, shot a 69 to tie for third with Wales' Rhys Davies (65) and England's James Morrison (69).
