Citing a nagging thumb injury that has sidelined him for much of 2014, Jason Day has withdrawn from the Players Championship.

According to the Florida Times-Union, Day aggravated the injury at the Masters and will miss at least a few more weeks.

Currently No. 6 in the Official World Golf Rankings, the 26-year-old Aussie becomes the fourth top-50 player to drop out of next week's Players: World No. 1 Tiger Woods recovering from back surgery, while Victor Dubuisson (No. 23) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (No. 33) both have decided not to enter.
