Hearing the name "Jimmy Walker" and the word "birdie" in the same sentence is a pretty regular occurrence these days.

But on Friday in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, Walker had a different kind of birdie. In other words, he literally hit a birdy.

At the 387-yard, par-4 17th hole, Walker elected to hit an iron off the tee. He struck the shot well and... it nailed a bird in mid-flight.

Walker made par on the hole and -- more importantly -- it looks like the bird was relatively unharmed.

Walker, a three-time winner on Tour this season, shot a 2-under 68. At 5 under through 36 holes, he's tied for fourth, just two off the lead.
