When it comes to long-drive competitions power is a given.

You're going to see some of the most violent golf swings imaginable and wonder, "How the heck do they do that?!"

But on Tuesday night in the Volvik World Long Drive Championship at the WinStar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma, there was a "wow" moment like you wouldn't believe.

This "highlight" came courtesy of Wes Patterson.

Patterson, who had already recorded a drive of 423 yards, lashed so hard at another drive that his shaft snapped in half on his recoil and went flying into the crowd.

Thankfully no one was hurt, but the power was something to behold. Check it out:
