Phil Mickelson escapes trouble to make unlikely birdie at the Safeway Open

After a rough stretch, Phil Mickelson has been playing well lately.

He’s in contention to win on the final day of the Safeway Open.

Sequences like the one below help. Mickelson’s ball landed behind the trees on the 13th hole on Saturday, but he pulled off an incredible escape shot. Lefty would go on to birdie the hole:

After setting the record for Presidents Cup wins last weekend, Mickelson is four shots back of the lead going into the final round of the Safeway Open. It’s good to see him playing at a high level again.
