Mike Weir suffered a strange, unlucky injury on Sunday night.
Former Masters champ Mike Weir was supposed to be in Geneva this week for the European Tour's Omega European Masters.
Instead, Weir is headed back home to Salt Lake City, after suffering a strange, unlucky injury.
Weir was flying Sunday night and was supposed to have a layover in Paris. However, his flight was diverted to Atlanta because of a mechanical issue. While helping a woman with a bag onboard, Weir tweaked his back. As a result, he's experiencing serious pain and was forced to withdraw and head home to Utah.
It's been a rough couple of years for Weir. Playing through injuries, he had 15 starts in 2011, making the cut just twice on the PGA Tour. This season, he's got 12 PGA Tour starts and had yet to make a cut.
Check out Weir's blog for more. Here's to hoping there's a speedy recovery for one of professional golf's good guys.
