Rory McIlroy grants fan's 'Wish of a Lifetime' at the Travelers Championship

Before Rory McIlroy played in his first Travelers Championship yesterday, he made time to brighten a fan's day.

McIlroy, through the "Wish of a Lifetime" foundation, met elderly fan Noreen -- also from McIlroy's native Ireland -- and fulfilled a long-time dream of hers. The non-profit organization makes an effort to change the cultural view on aging by granting seniors' wishes and giving them more reasons to live a life of purpose.

McIlroy posted the meeting to his social media accounts, expressing Noreen's love of golf and his own pleasure in meeting her.

 

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting this great lady, Noreen Murnane at the @travelerschamp Noreen moved to the United States from Ireland in 1963 but sadly 6 years ago suffered a stroke. Given Noreen's passion for golf, she contacted @wishofalifetime asking to meet with me. I was honoured to make her wish come true!

Noreen received an autographed Travelers Championship tournament flag from McIlroy, but she also got a memory to last a lifetime.
