Callaway names ex-Qualcomm COO Thornley as its interim CEO

Callaway Golf Company has appointed Anthony S. Thornley interim president and chief executive officer.

The move announced Wednesday fills a vacancy created by the resignation of George Fellows.

The 65-year-old Thornley, who joined Callaway’s board of directors in 2004, served from 2002-05 as president and chief operating officer of Qualcomm Inc.

He had been chair of the audit committee of Callaway’s board and was the designated “financial expert.”

The 68-year-old Fellows served as president and CEO since August 2005.
