The Memorial Tournament, among the biggest of the non-major events on the PGA Tour, takes place this week at Muirfield Village, the home of Jack Nicklaus. Justin Rose is the defending champ. Before the tournament teed off, we caught up with Muirfield Village PGA Head Professional Larry Dornisch and covered a wide-variety of topics.
PGA.com: Thanks for joining us again, Larry. As usual, the 2010 Memorial Tournament was quite the show with Justin Rose finally able to lock down that first PGA Tour victory. Ask around the golfing world and everyone will tell you Rose was long overdue for a win. And a win at Muirfield Village just sky-rocketed his confidence. What did you think of his victory?

Dornisch: Last year's tournament was fun to watch with several players having a chance to win on the back nine on Sunday. It ended up being a duel between Justin and Rickie Fowler with hole 12 being the difference. Once Justin got in the lead he played great golf and finished his round like a champion.
PGA.com: One more thing about last year... How exciting was it to see so many of the young guns in the mix during the final round? Guys like Rickie Fowler, Ricky Barnes, Rory McIlroy and Jeff Overton?
Dornisch: The face of golf is certainly changing and having such a young and international group of players on the top of the leaderboard adds to the excitement.
PGA.com: We're used to immaculate conditions at Muirfield Village and I'm sure there's no reason to expect anything less this time around. That said, have there been any changes made to the course in the last 12 months?
Dornisch: The course continues to evolve and I think has the best shot values from 1-18 that I have ever played. We made two changes this year. First we have a new 16th that I believe will become one of the great par 3s in golf. It is visually intimidating and will create a lot of excitement. We also changed the back right hand portion of our 14th green to create some additional pinning space.
PGA.com: What's the one aspect of tournament week you most look forward to each year?
Dornisch: I enjoy having the best players in the world, and the entire golf community, exposed to what we think is one of the greatest experiences in golf. From the locker room to the Captain's Grill and our world-class golf course and practice facility.
PGA.com: In your years as the PGA Head Professional at Muirfield Village, can you pinpoint a most memorable moment?
Dornisch: The association with Jack Nicklaus and the Nicklaus family and the type of high quality people the organization attracts makes every moment memorable. It is an honor to be the Golf Professional at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
