Munoz leads after first round at HSBC Champions, Lewis tied for second

SINGAPORE -- Azahara Munoz of Spain shot a 7-under 65 to take a two-stroke lead after the first round of the HSBC Women's Champions on Thursday.

Munoz, playing in the first group of the day, made seven birdies in a blemish-free round to top a leaderboard at Sentosa Golf Club that includes 17 of the top 20 players in the world.

Stacy Lewis, Karin Sjodin, Lizette Salas, Pornanong Phatlum and Sun Young Yoo were tied for second place at 5-under 67.

Paula Creamer was another stroke back after a 68, despite injuring her right shoulder in a car accident in Thailand on Sunday. Creamer was in a four-way tie for seventh with top-ranked Yani Tseng, Danielle Kang and Chella Choi.

Munoz, the 25-year-old from Malaga, collected seven birdies in a superb bogey-free round on the Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club to put herself at the head of an impressive field.

England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff was one of nine players in tied for 11th after going round in 69, but defending champion Angela Stanford of the United States struggled to a 4-over 76 which included an 8 at the par-4 13th hole.
