PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.– The PGA of America’s annual CBS Sports Special, “Road to the PGA Championship,” relates several inspirational stories heading into the 98th PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club, in Springfield, New Jersey, including those of defending PGA Champion Jason Day’s caddie and instructor Colin Swatton; 2011 PGA Champion Keegan Bradley and his PGA Professional father, Mark Bradley; and PGA TOUR Player Brian Stuard’s long-time PGA teacher Gary Robinson.

CBS Sports will debut “Road to the PGA Championship” nationally on Sat., July 23, from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. ET, with a replay on Golf Channel on Mon., July 25, from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. ET. CBS Sports also will air a special “PGA Championship Preview” on Sun., July 24, from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. ET.

“Road to the PGA Championship” on Sat., July 23, will chronicle the journey of PGA Professional Champion Rich Berberian Jr., a PGA Assistant Professional from Derry, New Hampshire, and son of a PGA Life Member, whose dramatic 33-foot, uphill birdie putt on the final hole helped him capture the 49th PGA Professional Championship and earn a spot in this year’s PGA Championship. In addition, PGA Professional Brian Gaffney, who grew up near Baltusrol, and was the Low Club Professional at the 2015 PGA Championship, will be highlighted, as he looks to repeat his feat. While taking a break from training, Gaffney, the PGA Head Professional at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, New York, races Indy cars, just for fun.

Then, there is the story of Wyatt Worthington (Methodist University Class of 2012), of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, one of four graduates of the PGA Golf Management University program to earn a PGA Championship berth this year. In 2015, Worthington lost in a playoff at the PGA Professional Championship and narrowly missed an invitation to Whistling Straits, but he achieved his dream this year. Worthington is only the second African-American (after Tom Woodard in 1991) to earn a trip to the PGA Championship through the PGA Professional Championship.

The CBS Sports broadcast of the “PGA Championship Preview,” on Sunday, July 24, will feature several special stories, including an in-depth interview with Defending Champion and World No. 1 Jason Day. Viewers also will see a segment on the history of Baltusrol with Jack Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson; a profile of major Champion Dustin Johnson; a look at the founding of the PGA of America and the inaugural PGA Championship from 1916; highlights from the 2016 PGA Professional Championship and Berberian’s win; and a celebration of CBS Sports’ coverage of the PGA Championship for the past 25 years.

There will also be a special PGA Championship announcer roundtable hosted by Bill Macatee featuring Jim Nantz, Nick Faldo, Gary McCord, Peter Kostis, Ian Baker Finch and Dottie Pepper, who will discuss their favorite PGA Championship moments since 1991, Baltusrol Golf Club and their predictions for the 98th PGA Championship.

The PGA Championship is one of the premier golf events conducted by the PGA of America. Others include the Ryder Cup and the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. The PGA Championship perennially features the strongest field, the fairest setup, and deepest international lineup of any major golf championship. The 2016 PGA Championship will award one of the largest purses of any major championship: $10 million. Since 1916, golf's best professionals have won the PGA Championship, including Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Raymond Floyd, Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Gene Sarazen and Walter Hagen.
