Vines leads Woods' niece by one at U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links

Kelsey Vines shot an even-par 71 Monday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of stroke play at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.

Vines, from San Antonio, Texas, leads Arizonans Cheyenne Woods and Julie Yang, who both shot 72 on the 6,095-yard Old Macdonald course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

2011 U.S. WOMEN'S AMATEUR PUBLIC LINKS

Female golfers from 34 states and 11 foreign countries are taking part this week at Bandon Dunes.

Emily Tubert of Burbank, Calif., is another shot back at 73.

The second round of stroke play is Tuesday. The 156-player field will be trimmed to 64 for match play, starting Wednesday. The 36-hole final is Saturday.
