Kevin Kisner leads Callaway Pebble Beach Invitational by two shots

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Kevin Kisner shot a bogey-free 64 at Spyglass Hill and rallied for a two-shot lead over Jason Kokrak after three rounds of the Callaway Pebble Beach Invitational on Saturday. 

Kisner, a PGA Tour member who won the Chile Classic in Santiago last March on the Web.com Tour, had eight birdies, en route to a 15-under 201. 

Kokrak, one stroke behind Scott Brown after two rounds, had a 68 at Spyglass, and was alone at 203. 

"It was one of the days anytime you didn't hit just how you wanted it, it just worked out and I made the putts," said Kisner, who also chipped in on the 10th and 14th. "There was no wind on the ocean side, so anytime that happens you have to take advantage of it." 

Skip Kendall, who shot a 67, also at Spyglass, was third at 204. 

Chesson Hadley (67) and first-round leader Morgan Hoffmann (70) were tied at 206. 

Kisner who has played in 53 career PGA Tour tournaments dating to 2006, had only played Spyglass Hill twice previously in competition.

"I got off to a good start," Kisner said. "I birdied five through seven, so that kind of helps out. I chipped in on 10 and 14, so those are the kind of things that happen when you shoot 8 under." 

Brown had a 73 at Pebble Beach and was grouped with William McGirt (70), Sam Saunders (68) and Martin Flores (66), who all played at Del Monte, at 207. 

Mina Harigae shot her third consecutive 70 and was the leader among seven women entrants at 210. 

Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam, who has competed in the event several times since retiring from the LPGA Tour in 2008, made the cut after a 72 at Pebble Beach en route to a 213. 

Duffy Waldorf, who had a 69 at Del Monte, was the leader among nine Champions Tour players at 209. 

Defending titlist Tommy Gainey missed the cut after a 77 at Pebble Beach. 

Joey Sindelar called an infraction on himself after hitting off the wrong tee box on the first hole (his 10th of the round) and was disqualified. Tom Purtzer withdrew during the third round because of a back injury. 

The top 40 pros from the original field of 80 from the PGA, LPGA, Champions and Web.com tours will play the final round Sunday at Pebble Beach. The winner earns $60,000 of the $300,000 purse.
