CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson is a father again.

Simpson's wife, Dowd, gave birth Saturday to daughter Willow Grace.

Simpson's agent, Thomas Parker, said mother and daughter are doing well.

Simpson is expected to return to play at the PGA Championship on Aug. 9-12 at Kiawah Island in South Carolina. He skipped the British Open because of the birth of the couple's second child.

After winning the U.S. Open, Simpson said he might choose to stay at home from Royal Lytham, and said that his "next eight weeks are going to be up in the air. We're going to see what we can do."

His wife gave a more revealing answer at the Olympic Club, however.

"I don't think he is going to play the British Open just in case I go into labor," she told reporters. "It would make Webb too nervous to hop over the pond and then have to try to get back."
