Purse: $9.25 million. Winner's share: $1.57 million.

 

Last year: Jason Day won at Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona, beating Victor Dubuisson on the 23rd hole. Day topped Rickie Fowler 3 and 2 in the semifinals.

 

Last week: Justin Rose won the Zurich Classic in Louisiana, birdieing the final two holes for a one-stroke victory. ... Wu Ashun won the Volvo China Open to become the first Chinese player to win a European Tour title on home soil.

 

Notes: In a format change, the event will open with three days of round-robin play in 16 four-man groups. The player with the best record in each group will advance to single elimination. ... Top-ranked Rory McIlroy is in a group with Jason Dufner, Brandt Snedeker and Billy Horschel. Masters champion Jordan Spieth is grouped with Mikko Ilonen, Matt Every and Lee Westwood. Westwood is coming off a victory Sunday in the Asian Tour's Indonesia Masters. ... Phil Mickelson withdrew because of personal reasons. He was replaced by Ilonen. ... Tiger Woods failed to qualify. He will return next week in The Players Championship in Florida.

NORTH TEXAS SHOOTOUT

Schedule: Thursday-Sunday.

Course: Las Colinas Country Club (6,462 yards, par 71).

Purse: $1.3 million. Winner's share: $195,000.

 

Last year: Stacy Lewis closed with a 7-under 64 for a six-stroke victory. She's from The Woodlands near Houston.

 

Last week: Lydia Ko successfully defended her title in the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic in Daly City, California. The top-ranked Ko beat Morgan Pressel with a birdie on the second hole of a playoff, two days after turning 18.

 

Notes: Ko is making her first start in the event. She has two LPGA Tour victories this year and seven overall. ... The 144-player field will be cut to the top 70 and ties after the second round and to the top 50 and ties after the third. ... Inbee Park won the inaugural event in 2013. ... Oklahoma State's Maddie McCrary and Texas A&M's Marijosse Navarro earned spots in the field in the College Shootout. ... The tour is off next week. Play will resume May 14-17 with the Kingsmill Championship in Virginia.

INSPERITY INVITATIONAL

Schedule: Friday-Sunday.

Course: The Woodlands Country Club (7,179 yards, par 72).

Purse: $2.05 million. Winner's share: $307,500.

 

Last year: Bernhard Langer won the event for the third time, beating Fred Couples by a stroke. Langer also won in 2007 at Augusta Pines and 2008 at The Woodlands.

 

Last week: Joe Durant and Billy Andrade teamed to win the Legends of Golf in Missouri. Durant had a hole-in-one on the par-3 course in the final round. Larry Nelson and Larry Fleisher won the Legends Division for players 65 and older.

 

Notes: Couples, the 2010 winner, is in the field. He played at the University of Houston. ... In 2013, Esteban Toledo became the first Mexican winner in Champions Tour history, beating Mike Goodes in a playoff. ... The tour is off next week. Play will resume May 14-17 with the Regions Tradition in Alabama.

UNITED LEASING CHAMPIONSHIP

Course: Victoria National Golf Club (7,242 yards, par 72).

Purse: $600,000. Winner's share: $108,000.

 

Last year: England's Greg Owen won by a stroke, overcoming a seven-stroke deficit with a 5-under 67.

 

Last event: Wes Roach won the El Bosque Mexico Championship on April 19 for his first tour title.

 

Notes: Peter Malnati leads the money list with $184,207, followed by Roach with $166,917 and Patrick Rodgers at $162,070. Malnati won in Brazil last month, and Rodgers won in Colombia in February. ... The tour is off next week. Play will resume May 14-17 with the BMW Charity Pro-Am in South Carolina.
