WEB.COM TOUR FINALS
WEB.COM TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
 
Site: Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Schedule: Thursday-Sunday.
Course: TPC Sawgrass, Dye's Valley Course (6,864 yards, par 70).
Purse: $1 million. Winner's share: $180,000.
 
Last year: Derek Fathauer won the season-ending tournament to top the four-event Web.com Tour Finals money list and earn a full PGA Tour exemption.
 
Last week: Andrew Loupe won the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio, to earn a PGA Tour card. He closed with a 1-under 70 for a two-stroke victory.
 
Notes: The tournament ends the series for the top 75 players from the Web.com Tour money list, Nos. 126-200 in the PGA Tour's FedExCup standings and non-members who earned enough money to have placed in the top 200 had they been eligible to receive points. The top 25 players on the Web.com Tour regular-season money list earned PGA Tour cards. They are competing against each other for tour priority, with regular-season earnings counting in their totals. The other players are fighting for 25 cards based on series earnings. ... Sweden's Henrik Norlander won the opener in Indiana, and Chez Reavie took the second event in North Carolina.

Last year: England's Oliver Wilson won his first European Tour title, beating Rory McIlroy and Richie Ramsey by a stroke.
 
Last week: Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee won the European Open in Germany by a stroke for his seventh European Tour title.
 
Notes: Louis Oosthuizen is back at St. Andrews 2 1/2 months after losing a playoff to Zach Johnson in the British Open. The South African player won the 2010 British Open on the Old Course. ... Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and Ernie Els are in the field. Brooks Koepka tops the U.S. contingent along with Stewart Cink, John Daly, Sean O'Hair, Pat Perez, Scott Piercy, Peter Uihlein and Erik Compton. Daly won the 1995 British Open at St. Andrews. ... The final round will be played at St. Andrews. ... The British Masters is next week at Woburn in England, followed by the Portugal Masters and the regular-season ending Hong Kong Open.
 
PGA TOUR

Last week: Jordan Spieth won the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta to win the FedEx Cup. The 22-year-old Texan became golf's first $22 million man, winning $1,485,000 for a PGA Tour-record $12,030,465 and taking the $10 million FedExCup bonus. He also went back to No. 1 in the world, tied for the tour victory lead with five and won the Vardon Trophy for lowest adjusted scoring average.
 
LPGA TOUR
Next event: LPGA Malaysia, Oct. 8-11, Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
 
Last event: Infuriated by Suzann Pettersen's call against Alison Lee, the United States rallied to beat Europe 14 1/2-13 1/3 in the Solheim Cup on Sept. 20 in Germnay. The event turned after Lee was penalized for picking up her ball when she thought her short second putt was conceded on the 17th hole in the completion of a suspended fourballs match. The Americans won 8 1/2 points in the 12 singles matches.
 
CHAMPIONS TOUR
Next event: SAS Championship, Oct. 9-11, Prestonwood Country Club, Cary, North Carolina.
 
Last week: Mexico's Esteban Toledo won the First Tee Open at Pebble Beach for his third tour title. He held off 66-year-old Tom Watson by a stroke.
