PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- With the latest rounds of the PGA Proficiency Test now complete, 22 PGA Professionals received 28 advanced certifications from the PGA Certified Professional Program.

Jeffrey Dayton, of Flemington, N.J., achieved all six certifications by recently completing the Executive Management and Ownership/Leasing courses. Dayton joins only 73 other PGA Professionals who have achieved all six certifications. Dayton, who serves as PGA Head Golf Professional at Heron Glen Golf Course in Ringoes, N.J., earned his first certification in February, and completed his final two certifications in April.

The PGA Certified Professional Program is an online educational curriculum that supports PGA Professionals who are committed to continuously enhancing their golf management skills, in order to stay ahead of the increasing demands of the industry. Since the program's inception in 2004, a total of 731 PGA Professionals have earned a cumulative 1,437 certifications in six related career paths including: General Management, Golf Operations, Instruction, Retail, Executive Management and Ownership/Leasing.

"Through the PGA Certified Professional Program, I received the necessary training and education in a variety of business and professional areas that will enable me to advance my career as a PGA Professional," said Dayton. "And thanks to this program, my students are receiving better instruction; our customers are enjoying a better golf experience; and my employer is the benefactor of a more rounded golf professional. To say the least, I am very proud of this accomplishment."

The online distance learning approach ensures broad access to the program, while reducing the time and travel costs associated with traditional classes. Currently, the most popular career paths are Golf Operations and General Management. Classes with the highest enrollment across all career paths include: Accounting, Business Planning and Budgeting, Turfgrass Management and Customer Relations.
