PGA Golf Club to Host ‘20th Anniversary Weekend’ Celebration

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – PGA Golf Club – the 54-hole, flagship facility of the PGA of America in Port St. Lucie, Fla. – will host a “20th Anniversary Weekend” Sept. 16-19, to celebrate two decades of unforgettable golf experiences.

Opened in 1996, PGA Golf Club is entering a new era of entertainment as recent enhancements have met with rave reviews from members and guests alike. Case in point, the Wanamaker Course – which underwent extensive renovations to its fairways and bunker surrounds – has earned high praise from several national publications including Golfweek and GOLF Magazine. The acclaimed Dye Course is scheduled to re-open in early November following a complete re-grassing project which will undoubtedly heighten the overall experience.

Festivities kick off Friday, Sept. 16, with a members-exclusive cocktail party and Happy Hour from 4 to 9 p.m., followed by a “Step Aside Scramble” on Saturday, Sept. 17. On Sunday, Sept. 18 and Monday, Sept. 19, all guests can tee it up on the Wanamaker & Ryder Course for $39 before noon and $29 after. To honor the founding of PGA Golf Club 20 years ago, greens fees include a bounceback coupon to play the Wanamaker or Ryder courses after 10 a.m. before Oct. 31 (with a 48-hour booking window) for a special anniversary rate of $19.96. Additional specials include discounts in the golf shop, $1 hot dogs, 50-cent cans of soda, and a bucket of beer and nachos for $19.96.

The anniversary weekend occurs as the PGA of America continues its Centennial celebration. Sparked by a meeting of prominent golf professionals and amateurs who comprised the “Taplow Club” in New York City’s famed Wanamaker Store, the PGA was formed on Jan. 17, 1916.
