KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- India's Jyoti Randhawa booked his third British Open appearance Wednesday alongside two Australians and a Japanese after a two-round qualifier at a suburban Malaysian course.
Randhawa fired a 4-under-par 68 -- the best score in the second round -- for a total of 5-under-par 139 in the 36-hole tournament at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.
He shared medallist honors with two Australians, former club professional Scott Barr and Kim Felton.
Japan's Yoshinobu Tsukada clinched the final remaining berth after prevailing in a four-way playoff.
"It's always a dream to play in the Open," said Randhawa, who played at St. Andrew's in 2000 and Royal St. George's last year. "I'm looking forward to my third appearance."
The top four of more than 40 players in the event qualified for the Open, to be played at Royal Troon in Scotland, July 15-18.
"One of my goals this year was to play in a Major and it's nice to achieve that," said Barr. "It's a big feeling obviously but it hasn't really sunk in yet."
The Malaysia event was the third of five international qualifiers for the Open, coming after South Africa and Australia, and with England and the United States to follow.
The qualifying system, introduced for this year's Open to make it easier for lower-ranked players to enter, guarantees four places for players from each of Africa, Asia and Australasia. The United States and Europe are guaranteed at least 12.
The final field for the British Open will remain at 156.
