Course
Hole 1

No. 2 — 453 Yards, Par 4

Tradition dictates that you don't mess around with the hazards on the Old Course -- most have been there for hundreds of years. But building new tees at several holes has kept the challenge up-to-date. Adding 40 yards to the second hole has brought a deep bunker on the left back into play, putting pressure on the tee shot. The green is raised on the left, slopes away to the back and right, and is bunkered front and back. It's tough to get close to left-side championship pin placements.

By Keith Mackie, golf historian and writer from a well-established golfing family in St. Andrews.
