At the first of the par 5s the line from the tee is the left side of the fairway to avoid a cluster of six bunkers down the right. The huge raised green lies beyond a bunkered ridge but will be comfortably in range for most Open contenders. In the 2000 championship, 18 eagles were scored here and birdies outnumbered pars, making it the easiest hole on the course.
