Bruntsfield Links among 4 venues added for Open qualifying

Bruntsfield Links, founded in 1761 and located on the east coast of Scotland, join southern English courses Buckinghamshire Golf Club and Hankley Common and Moortown Golf Club in northern England as future Open qualifying sites.

ST. ANDREW'S, Scotland (AP) -- Bruntsfield Links, which has been staging golf since 1761, is one of four courses added to list of qualifying venues for the British Open.

Originally laid down by two-time Open champion Willie Park Jr., the links on the east coast of Scotland join southern English courses Buckinghamshire Golf Club and Hankley Common on the schedule for qualifying in 2011, when the British Open will be staged at Royal St. George's.

The Royal and Ancient Club also announced Tuesday that Moortown Golf Club in northern England, which staged the 1929 Ryder Cup, has been added to the list of qualifying venues for the 2012 British Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes.
