SUNDAY: Woodward wins 2012 Southworth Senior PNC with final-hole eagle
Jim Woodward of Edmond, Okla., won the 24th Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship presented by Mercedes-Benz on Sunday in dramatic fashion. The PGA teaching professional at Oak Tree National Golf Club uncorked a mammoth drive on the on the 569-yard, par-5 closing hole and followed with a 4-hybrid approach 245 yards to a foot from the hole. SATURDAY: Woodward ties course record to take 54-hole lead
Jim Woodward of Oklahoma erased his bad memories of past tours around Creighton Farms on Saturday, turning in a 66 to match the competitive course record and grab the 54-hole lead. The 55-year-old Woodward owns a 54-hole total of 2-under-par 214 and a two-stroke margin over Mike Lawrence of South Carolina, who closed with a 71, and second-round co-leader Bob Gaus of Missouri, who struggled with bogeys on two of his final three holes for a 74.

FRIDAY: New York's Bolling and New Jersey's Britton share 36-hole lead
With cold, blustery conditions creating hurdles for most of the field, Charlie Bolling of Glen Cove, N.Y., and 2009 Champion Bill Britton of Colts Neck, N.J., were on cruise control Friday. Bolling posted a 3-under-par 69 and Britton turned in a 70 at Creighton Farms, to grab a one-stroke lead in the second round while scores went soaring among a field of 264 players representing 43 states.

THURSDAY: Gaus and Nakamura share first-round lead
Bob Gaus of St. Louis and tournament rookie Bruce Nakamura of Vista, Calif., each overcame a near-disastrous tour of the 18th hole at River Creek Club on Thursday to post matching 3-under-par 69s and share the opening-round lead. Defending Champion Kirk Hanefeld of Acton, Mass., heads a 10-member delegation just a stroke back.
