JIM RICHERSON, PGA
PGA Secretary Jim Richerson is the PGA General Manager and Group Director of Golf for Kohler Company in Kohler, Wisconsin. He was elected at the 2016 PGA Annual Meeting, when he became the first Wisconsin PGA Member to be elected as an Officer of the Association.
A member of the PGA Board of Directors from 2013-15, serving District 6, Richerson also serves on the Wisconsin PGA Section Board of Directors, where he was Secretary from 2015-16; is chair of the Wisconsin PGA Education Committee; and is a board member of the Wisconsin State Golf Association.
Richerson was born in Kirksville, Missouri, learning the game of golf from his father, Bill, who was a standout football player at Northeast Missouri State University and who later returned to his alma mater as a successful men’s golf coach and headed the Health and Exercise Science Department.
Elected to PGA Membership in 1995, Richerson spent the first 18 years of his career affiliated with the Marriott & Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Golf Corporation, holding various executive and management positions at golf properties in Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, California, Arizona and Missouri.
During Richerson’s term as a District 6 Director, he served as chair of the National Properties Committee; as a member of the National Budget and National Investment Committees; and continues as a PGA.com Advisory Board member. He was recipient of the 2013 and 2016 Wisconsin PGA Golf Professional of the Year, and the Section’s 2011 Horton Smith Award and 2012 Bill Strausbaugh Award.
Prior to joining Kohler Company, Richersonserved as the Senior Director of PGA Golf Properties for the PGA of America based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Richerson has served an integral role for Kohler Properties in conducting major golf championships. He was an Executive Committee Member of the 2007 U.S. Senior Open; the 2010 PGA Championship; the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open, where he also was General Chair; and the 2015 PGA Championship.
In addition to his PGA and Kohler Company duties, Richerson has been active in community service, promoting and fundraising for charitable organizations in Wisconsin including the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Sheboygan Children’s Museum, Bookworm Gardens for Children, and United Way and Harvest for the Hungry events.
Richerson and his wife Kristi are parents of a daughter, Mary-Claire.
