FRENCH LICK, Ind. -– The PGA of America announced that it will increase the purse to $2.75 million for the 2015 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, to be conducted May 21-24, on the Pete Dye Course at French Lick (Indiana) Resort.

The oldest and most prestigious Championship in senior golf, which offered a $2.1 million purse in 2014, will now award the Champion $495,000; with second place receiving $297,000; and third place $187,000.

The Championship makes its first visit to the Pete Dye Course, which opened in 2009. It is the fourth major championship hosted by French Lick Resort, following the 1924 PGA Championship, which was played on the Donald Ross Course and won by Walter Hagen; and the 1959 and ’60 LPGA Championships. French Lick’s Pete Dye Course also hosted the 2010 PGA Professional National Championship.

“We’re pleased that the purse reflects the proud tradition of this major Championship and the outstanding field that it will attract,” said PGA President Derek Sprague. “We are excited to join a tremendous host site in counting down the days to another ‘Walk with History’ for what we believe will be one of our greatest Championships.”

The Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid marks its first visit to Indiana with an international 156-member field competing on the par-72, 7,147-yard Pete Dye Course, designed by its legendary namesake.
