PGA of America, Kohler Co. to celebrate year-out mark of 2015 PGA Championship with Wisconsin golf fans

KOHLER, Wis. -- The PGA of America and Kohler Co. announced Wednesday that they will celebrate the upcoming year-out mark of the 2015 PGA Championship by offering a variety of opportunities for golf fans in the state of Wisconsin. The PGA Championship is preparing to make its third visit to Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis., Aug. 10-16, 2015.

In conjunction with the celebration, fans hoping to attend the 2015 PGA Championship are reminded to complete the free and required online ticket pre-registration by August 10 at www.PGAChampionship.com in order to be eligible to purchase tickets during the public sale, which will run Aug. 11-30, 2014.

“We’ve seen such terrific enthusiasm for the 2015 PGA Championship from golf fans across the country and around the world already, but none more so than the wonderful golf fans right here in Wisconsin,” 2015 PGA Championship Director Jason Mengel said. “As we celebrate the year-out mark of the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, we are excited to reach out to the fans who call Wisconsin home and who showcase the state’s incredible passion for golf every day.”

To-date, more than 35,000 fans have completed the required 2015 PGA Championship ticket pre-registration and more than 3,500 fans have applied to serve as volunteers at the Championship. Only a small number of volunteer opportunities remain in the “Championship Shops”, a stunning new 36,000-square-foot merchandise facility that will serve as a hub of excitement for spectators. Aug. 15: Year-Out Fan Activities and Opportunities In Wisconsin

The PGA of America has chosen Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, to serve as an official day of celebration for reaching the year-out mark of the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

As part of the celebration, the following fan opportunities will be available on Aug. 15 only:

• The Wisconsin PGA Section will provide FREE, 15-minute golf lessons from PGA professionals at select courses in key markets across the state. For a complete listing of times and courses, visit www.Wisconsin.PGA.com or www.PGAChampionship.com.

FREE LESSONS: A complete list of Wisconsin courses offering free golf lessons on Aug. 15

• As the 2015 PGA Championship host course, Whistling Straits will host FREE, 15-minute golf lessons with multiple PGA professionals on staff and host a celebration at its practice facility, with giveaways, complimentary soft drinks and more.

• The Whistling Straits Golf Shop will provide a 15% discount on 2015 PGA Championship merchandise on-site at the golf shop.

• Visitors to the Innovations in Golf: The PGA Championship Exhibit at Discovery World in downtown Milwaukee will receive at 15% discount on the price of admission. For Discovery World hours, visit www.discoveryworld.org.

“Golf Night at Miller Park”

Prior to August 15, fans are also encouraged to attend “Golf Night at Miller Park” when the Milwaukee Brewers will host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 6:10 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 9, at Miller Park. The game will include a variety of golf-related contests and activities for fans in attendance. Tickets for “Golf Night at Miller Park” may be purchased online at Brewers.com or by calling 414-902-GAME.
