PGA and LPGA Teachers involved in innovative Fly Girls Casting event

Corning, CA- Adventurous women will gather for the second annual Fly Girls Casting for Recovery Event on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Rolling Hills Casino Resort located in California's North State region (Corning, CA). This event is all about resilient living and celebrating sisterhood for women whose lives have been challenged by breast cancer. Funds raised through the Fly Girls event will benefit the non-profit organization Casting for Recovery. Fly Girls will cast-off with registration at the Carlino's Event Center in Rolling Hills Casino at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Fly Girls Tie It On Breakfast where attendees will network over mimosas and a scrumptious morning meal courtesy of St. Elizabeth's Community Hospital. Next, is the Line on the Day, a series of fun-and-informative workshops focusing on everything from fly fishing instruction (taught by the Casting for Recovery team) to learning to tie flies with the help of Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers plus more fly fishing tips from local guides courtesy of Chico Area Flyfishers Club. Since attendees will not catch fish at the indoor event, for those interested two days have been set aside (June 5 or 6) for an outdoor, one-on-one fly fishing lesson provided by Chico Area Flyfishers, Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers or Clear Creek Sports Club. While at the Fly Girls event, those who want to learn about a "second" health-enhancing sport, that is: Golf, will have a chance to meet PGA & LPGA teaching pros sharing news about the upcoming Girls Club Clinic and other Play Golf America initiatives offered in June at the resort's nationally-ranked Sevillano Links, in conjunction with American Express Women's Golf Month. Because women care about wardrobe too, during the Fly Girls event attendees will have an opportunity to try on fly fishing gear plus visit an array of boutiques (with fly-fishing, golf, gym & leisure wear), fashion accessories, jewelry, cosmetics, wines & gourmet food products. The day will culminate with a Fly Girls: Celebrate Life with Lunch and Laughter. "Last year we had a very positive response from participants as well as from our supporting vendors and sponsors," stated event co-founder Kate Grissom with Rolling Hills Casino Resort, "so it seemed only natural that we host another Fly Girls celebration this year. Our goal is to continue to introduce women to new sports in a comfortable, social setting where sisterhood and spirit prevail, while also raising funds for a worthy cause such as Casting for Recovery." Event tickets are $55.00 and include indoor fly fishing clinics (plus a future outdoor fly flying lesson), on-site boutique experience, meals, entertainment, and a special Fly Girls gift.
